J'adore Blair Waldorf.

"Blair, come and meet Lou Doillon"

"Maybe you can ask Lou Doi-LLON to be your new best friend, because I'm done."

Why the hell is the brilliant work of Leighton Meester in Gossip Girl snubbed for all awards?

Because she's too hot. Emmy voters are probably envious.

(There goes Blake Lively with that spaced out look again; her niche.)

I meant Golden Globe voters, but what the hell - they're all the same.

I know little of this show Jose but having scoured your screening log, I see you have rated Being There and Carrie a mere three stars, how so?!

Andrew: I knooooow! But that does make sense of Emmy voters not HFPA. I'm baffled because these are the same people who gave Claire Danes, Keri Russell, Jennifer Garner and Anna Paquin Globes on the first seasons of their shows!
Leighton being at least a nominee makes sense (heck I think even Jessica Alba has been nominated for one!)
These people have no bias against pretty young things!

Haha poor Blake! I'm surprised some people think she might be nominated for an Oscar next year.

Burning Reels: three out of four ain't that bad right?
"Being There" was just too in love with itself to be fully transcendental and something about the aesthetics of "Carrie" just bugged me. I had seen it as a kid and didn't remember it being so un-scary, which is why this time felt like the very first time for me.

No, it's not but when you give them the same rating as The Lake House, I had to state something haha

But thanks for clarifying your reasons:)

Excuse my temporary ignorance but what film are some predicting Oscar nom for Blake Lively?

Poor "Lake House" I think it's such an underrated movie, found its romantic approach so sincere and lacking in bullshit that I even forego the fact that the plot makes absolutely no sense.

Blake is getting good notices for "The Town" and Leighton might get buzz for "Country Strong", you know how these things go, they'd love to have them compete in a category...

I don't detest The Lake House but Being There and Carrie are both pretty much first rate pieces of cinema for me.

Ah righto, thanks for the info.

Yes, true, even if they have little chance of a nomination - it all bodes well for their futures.

i don't understand either. leighton meester is the best thing in gossip girl - although i'm slightly biased about this show, i even drool over taylor momsen's bored teenage looks [ok i simply love her sense of style].

but meester's comic timing is perfection! and the she goes from pure bitchery bliss to subtle dramatic power in seconds reminds me of lauren graham in "gilmore girls", also another genius snubbed from evil awards.

Burning Reels: ah yeah, that is why ratings are so subjective and weird, when measured against established classics, "lesser" movies with high ratings feel odd somehow.
I wouldn't put "The Lake House" in a best of list for example, while "Carrie" would instantly be in one. This requires more conversation haha.

Ho: I know!
And even Lauren got a GG nod! It's weird cause the Globes love young hot things (Keri Russell), seemingly vapid performances (Anna Paquin) and fashion ("Sex and the City" won globes every year!).
I think this might be some bias against the network.

I agree with you Jose...which is why we should have been born around 1900 and live for a few hundred years haha, then our cinematic experience, knowledge and taste may have developed to a worthwhile and fair degree:)

Cause it's pop culture baby. Snubbed and then revered years or decades later.
