TomS: Have you seen it in the theatre? But I totally understand. I read the book version of the play beforehand and I wondered what all the hype was about.
I did see it at the Goodman Theater in Chicago this year, and reviewed it (Monday March 28, 2011). It's a play whose reach extends its grasp: It wants to delve into many themes that it is unable to develop in a meaningful way. It's unfocused...And there's too much use of vomit as a plot point, and discussions of cruelty to an innocent animal to elicit laughs. At least it was short (70+ minutes).
Interesting costumes - with warm maroons/purples for one couple and clinical black and whites for the other - is that similar in the plays does anyone know?

Me too! Still think it's such a random cast though. But Foster and Winslet together is phenomenal.

Sure, this has nothing to do with the actual movie...but Kate looks so pretty. YAY!
You're all quite right boys. Love your reaction Jason! I feel the same way.
I know, I'm surprised more people aren't talking about it......the picture starts to sum up so much of what's unique about this film.
Normal shot, not normal cast combos.
It is a fascinating cast. I, unfortunately, hated the play...and hope Polanski can do some serious re-thinking and re-writing for his adaptation..
RC: I know right! They'll probably get all excited until the trailer.
How so Tom? I've heard only great things about the play.
